Born in Milan, Italy, Margherita Tibaldo is an emerging international figurative artist known for her strikingly beautiful yet provocative paintings. As a child, her summers were spent travelling throughout Europe with her family which spiked her interest in the world around her. She found herself spending hours in her room alone making things with construction paper, tape, glue, paint, and various drawing materials. After middle school, she had to decide the type of high school she wanted to attend and was encouraged to study math and science.
“I was the shyest person ever and in order to escape that ‘prison’ of high school, I told my parents I wanted to study abroad to learn English.”
From that moment, Margherita embarked on her journey to America at the age of seventeen where she began taking her artistic career more seriously. Through the support of friends, family, and mentors, her confidence and diligence towards her art practice grew stronger. With the love and guidance of her husband, Leonardo, she was motivated to pursue her education in art at the University of South Florida. The message in her artwork is reflected through subjects of intimate life moments, relationships and, personal influences.
“When I paint I don’t think of anything else. It is magic to me. There are moments of frustration when things do not come out how I envisioned them, but it is all part of the creative process.”
Margherita is currently working on two series’; a collection of female nudes and a series of home/quarantine paintings from everyday life. She hopes to empower people through her expressive voice.
