Emerging Tampa Pop Artist Cesar Garcia

Cesar Garcia, also known as Bujikimo on Instagram, is an emerging painter working in the Tampa Bay area. His work focuses on stylistic subjects using spray paint, acrylic paint, and paint markers, that inhibit bold line with a vibrant color palette. As of recently he has begun to experiment with painting readymade objects, such as furniture and mannequins.

Cesar considers American pop-artist Keith Haring a huge inspiration to his work. From a young age he was also inspired by his father who attended the Art Institute of Chicago. This allowed him to grow up in an artistic household and watch his father work in the studio. Cesar attended Blake High School’s magnet program for painting which provided him a solid foundation of artistic technical skills and knowledge. He went on to graduate from the University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s in psychology, but always kept creating. Since graduating college, Cesar has put more time and energy towards making art his livelihood. His significant other, Bella Pozo, is an independent curator and art handler. She has contributed to his artistic career through providing many opportunities.

“I feel most vulnerable when creating more representational artworks because they tend to get judged more. I try to work very intuitively within my original style and create as I go. It’s all very abstract and free of concept.”
