"I have been writing poetry and making aesthetic collages since the age of 15. I grew up in Florida, from immigrant Latin-American parents and am a very proud first-generation American. I graduated from the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL with a B.A. in Theatre Arts, concentration in Performance. I am 43 years old and live in New Jersey, right outside of New York City with my husband & 3 sons. I love big cities, small bookstores and quiet coffeeshops. I am inspired by creativity, authenticity and vulnerability. In my mind there is no art without having the courage to say what others won't. In my art, female iconography is predominant. The Divine Feminine is at the heart of the message, the essential vibe. The theme of the female form permeates my art, not at the expense of or a mere sexualization of women’s bodies but as symbol of it’s inherent power. It is meant to remind us women of our divine purpose. Inspiring us as a community to take a stand against the patriarchy; against society’s commercialized perception of us. From social media and all the superficial expectations we find reflected in it’s glossy, photoshopped images. We are more than the narrative passed down by our mothers and grandmothers. We are more than what we see on Instagram or on tv. My art is an aesthetic expression stating that we are all beautiful, regardless of labels or divisive categories of size and weight, skin color and ethnicity. These are all antiquated concepts meant to contain us, control us and limit us. It’s time to break the chains that enslave us and take back our power. It’s time we step into our divinity."
