Adela Salas
Adela Salas is a visual artist, muralist, designer born in Santiago de Chile. Graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a bachelor’s in fine arts. After graduation, Adela decided to start her artistic path, using muralism and painting as her main medium. Adela’s inspiration answers to colors, social problems, transformation and healing. She captures feeling and ideas in a mixture of shapes, colors, texture and playful aesthetic. Currently, her work centers on exploring feminine mystical energy. She is fascinated by storytelling and learning from other women’s stories. Portraits, nude bodies, mythical creatures, vivid colors, lines, nature, jungles, jaguars and dots are repetitive elements in Adela’s works. As a latinx woman in a country where she belongs to a minority Adela trusts that women’s empowerment is significant in order to achieve gender equality. In many of her paintings and murals she makes visible social problems, such as gender-based violence, racism, and body related bias based on preconceived beauty standards. Adela enjoys intervening in unusual spaces. She is in her happiest element when she creates. Adela is grateful for the opportunity to inspire and create every day what is born inside of her. Adela is currently based in Florida; however, she develops projects in Chile and Mexico.
